Hawkes Bay attractions and activities

Hastings is a year round destination with a range of opportunities for both business and pleasure. With over 2,200 hours of sunshine annually, it’s the fruit bowl of not only Hawke’s Bay, but all of New Zealand. So of course, with all this sun comes an abundance of fine food and wine, available for direct purchase, or at any of Hawke’s Bay’s top quality dining establishments.

Although solidly grounded in its primary industries, Hastings is also home to a vibrant commercial community and a deeply skilled manufacturing and trade industry. Cumberland Court Motel is perfectly located at historic Stortford Lodge, right in the heart of Hastings’ business activity, and a stone’s throw away from everything fun under the sun.

Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s oldest and most abundant wine growing and making region, boasting many well known boutique wineries many of which are open year-round for tasting, lunch and dinner dining, and live entertainment.

Hastings is also proud to be the home of water theme park, Splash Planet. Fun for the whole family throughout Summer, Splash Planet is an aquatic fantasyland complete with its own castle sending water-babies young and old down five thrilling slides.

Just 15 minutes drive away is the Art Deco capital, Napier. Wind back time with a walking tour of this quaint city and experience the architectural wonder of what might be the best example of Art Deco in the world. Also along Marine Parade there’s plenty more to do including visiting the Hawke’s Bay Museum and Art Gallery and The National Aquarium

Further out of town, the largest inland gannet colony in the world, Cape Kidnappers, beckons you to visit via a coastal tractor and trailer ride, or go overland safari-style on quad bikes. And if you really want to impress yourself or others, overlooking the gannets is quite possibly, one of the seven golfing wonders of the world at www.capekidnappers.com
